Tax Engagement Agreement

Thank you for choosing Elevation Financial Services to assist with your tax preparation for the tax year indicated. This agreement outlines the scope of our services, the responsibilities of both parties, and the terms for payment and record handling.

Scope of Services

We will prepare your federal and, if applicable, state income tax returns based on the information you provide. You are responsible for ensuring all information is complete, accurate, and supported by proper documentation. We may request clarification of certain items, but we will not audit, verify, or investigate the information provided.

Our services are limited to tax preparation. We will inform you if we become aware of any material errors, omissions, or indications of fraud.

Client Acknowledgment

By signing this agreement, you confirm that:

  1. All information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

  2. You have the documentation necessary to substantiate all entries, income, deductions, and credits on your return.

  3. You understand that providing false or incomplete information is a criminal offense and may result in penalties, legal action, or prosecution.

  4. You release Elevation Financial Services and its preparers from liability for errors resulting from incorrect, incomplete, or omitted information you provide.

Payment Terms

  • If your tax preparation fees are deducted from your IRS refund through a Refund Transfer (bank product), you acknowledge that any additional fees or unpaid balances remain your responsibility and are due upon notice.

  • If your refund is delayed, intercepted, reduced for past-due obligations (such as IRS debt, child support, student loans, or state debts), or issued by paper check, you are still responsible for payment in full.

  • Invoices are due upon presentation unless alternative arrangements are made in writing.

  • Once this contract is signed and work has begun, all agreed fees are considered earned. If you choose not to proceed after work has started, a $75 cancellation fee will be charged to cover the initial preparation and administrative time.

  • Failure to pay may result in collection activity, legal action, and recovery of associated costs and fees.

Record Retention

We will return your original documents at the conclusion of our engagement. You should retain all records related to your return for a minimum of three years. We will maintain copies of your return and work papers for three years, after which they will be securely destroyed. Additional copies of your return are available upon request for a fee.

E-Filing Authorization

Our engagement concludes upon delivery of your completed return (paper-filed) or upon your signing of the e-file authorization form and our submission of your return (e-filed). By signing this agreement, your signature is transferable to IRS Forms 1040, 8879, 7216, and any other applicable forms necessary for e-filing.

If you choose not to e-file through our office, you are solely responsible for filing your return with the appropriate tax authority.

Acknowledgment and Agreement

I have read, understand, and agree to the terms outlined in this Tax Engagement Agreement. I authorize Elevation Financial Services to prepare and file my tax returns for the year(s) indicated, and I agree to the payment and cancellation terms as stated.
